New renders reveal all four Moto G7 handsets

The Motorola Moto G7 has been well and truly revealed. A collection of new renders of the Moto G7 handsets round off an incredibly leaky month for Motorola; we now have full specs, prices, and accurate images of each of the four Moto G7 phones. Poor Motorola.

The image above doesn't display each phone to scale - the Moto G7 Plus is a larger device - but it does give us a good sense of how Motorola has incorporated the smaller teardrop notch. As you can see, both the Power and Play models lack the second rear camera and small notch present on the other two handsets - this reflects the fact that they are the two cheapest models. Of course, this is the tip of the leaky iceberg; we also know how much these phones cost, what features they'll have, and when they'll be officially revealed.

As smartphone prices steadily shoot toward the stratosphere, Motorola has successfully been keeping things affordable for quite some time. Last year’s Moto G6 remains the absolute best budget smartphone, and given that it starts at a measly £170, it’s not hard to see why.

The launch of the Motorola Moto G7 is looming, and if the success of the G6 is anything to go by, there are plenty of reasons to be excited. As it happens, there’s already quite a lot of information on Motorola’s next big smartphone floating around the internet, waiting to be collated in one handy place. Read on to find out everything we know so far about the Motorola Moto G7.

Motorola Moto G7 release date: When will it launch?

It’s looking incredibly likely that the Moto G7 will launch in the first half of 2019. The manufacturer has already shared details of the new phone with the FCC - this usually denotes an impending launch, so there’s a chance we’ll see the G7 arrive as early as spring 2019.

In addition, Motorola has begun sending out invitations to an event that it will be hosting on 7 February in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Thanks to a very recent slew of high-profile leaks, it's clear that this event will mark the official launch of the Moto G7 - whether this serves as an official release date remains to be seen, but we can safely assume that the new handsets will appear in stores in the ensuing weeks.

Motorola Moto G7 price: How much will it cost?

As it happens, the details revealed to the FCC were actually for four phones: the standard G7, Play and Plus variants, and a new Power variant. And after very recent leaks from Brazil in the lead-up to the Motorola event, we now have specs for all four phones.

Miraculously enough, the prices have leaked for all four phones as well. According to serial leaker @ishanagarwal24 , the Moto G7 Play will cost around £130, with Moto G7 Power setting you back roughly £180. The regular Moto G7 will cost roughly £264, and the Moto G7 Plus, £316, making it the most expensive of the lot.

Motorola Moto G7 specifications: What features will it have?

Now that the Moto G7 has passed through the FCC, and that previous leaks have gained a bit of cohesion, we’ve got a pretty good idea of what’s powering the standard G7. Courtesy of some very recent (and very comprehensive ) leaks in the build-up to the February event in Brazil, we also know that there will be four new handsets in total: The regular Moto G7, the G7 Power, G7 Play, and G7 Plus.

The standard model Moto G7 will have an aluminium body and will be fitted with a 2,270 x 1,080 resolution LCD touchscreen with a tear-drop notch at the top. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor, along with an embedded Adreno GPU and 4GB RAM. The G7 is expected to offer 64GB storage as standard, and can hold a microSD card up to 256GB in capacity.

We were blown away with the quality of the photographs taken on the Moto G6, and the G7 will surely be looking to make improvements with a dual 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel rear camera arrangement along with a 8-megapixel selfie camera. The G7 will likely be able to record video in 1080p at 60fps, and will also feature auto-HDR and a depth sensor – none of these features are particularly new, but they were among the strongest features on the G6.

Other key features include a larger fast-charging 3,000mAh capacity battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a USB-C charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack along with the latest version of Google’s ever-popular mobile operating system – Android 9.0.

The Moto G7 Play will feature a Snapdragon 632 processor, alongside a 3,000mAh battery and a single 13-megapixel rear camera. The Moto G7 Power will use the same processor and single camera, but will offer a mighty 5,000mAh battery (which presumably gives the phone its name).

The Moto G7 Plus, on the other hand, features a Snapdragon 636 processor. It will also use the same dual camera set-up as the standard G7, and a larger screen punctuated by the same tear-drop notch with a 12-megapixel front camera in it. It will have a 3,500mAh battery, and 4GB RAM as standard.

The standard G7 will also share plenty of other features with its siblings, including the operating system, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, headphone jack, and USB-C charging port.
