The camera to be introduced today is Nikon D780. This camera is an upgraded version of D750. It is equipped with the same 24.5 million back-illuminated sensor and EXPEED 6 image processor as the Nikon Z6. In fact, the positioning of this camera is rather vague. It seems to be a group that wants to upgrade to D610 and D800. But it did not give up the original F-mount lens. This camera has both the characteristics of D850 and the personality of Z6! Full of sincerity! Next, let's take a look at the evaluation of this camera.

Appearance Design

This camera is very similar to the Nikon D850. Its back cover and top are designed with an integrated aluminum alloy structure. The body size is approximately 143.5 x 115.5 x 76 mm. The body weight with battery is about 840g. The design on the handle is also very deliberate. It is modeled after the button layout of the Z6 mirrorless camera.

The handle design of the Nikon D780 SLR camera is also sophisticated. It borrows the button layout on the Z6 mirrorless camera. Place the video button, ISO and exposure compensation buttons next to the shutter. It is a very good design.

In addition, it also designed a foldable 3.2-inch 2.36-million-pixel touch screen. The buttons on the back have also been optimized. It is a little regret that there is no spare lever.

This camera is a 51-point autofocus system. And it was equipped with 15 cross-shaped sensors. So, the overall performance has been well improved. In addition, the Nikon D780 still uses the dual SD card slot design. And made great changes in the interface. It can support placing the microphone and headphone jack on top. You can also replace the mainstream Type-C interface. It supports USB charging and so on.

The EN-EL15b battery used in the Nikon D780 is also worth mentioning. It supports body charging. Very suitable for carrying when traveling. No need to worry about battery life.

Picture Quality Test

In this test, the Nikon D780 SLR camera body chose to match the AF-S 50 mm f/1.4G lens. And all body optimizations were turned off. In the A-speed mode, the aperture value is f/8, and the ISO is compared in each setting. Now I will announce the test results to you.

The Nikon D780 SLR camera has a fine and high-quality image in the sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 6400. And the details and textures are very clear. But at high sensitivity between ISO 12800 and ISO 51200, significant noise began to appear. This will not affect the experience too much. And at such an extreme sensitivity of ISO 204800, it is a bit unsatisfactory. But under this condition, it will not be used many times. So, it is still not very influential.

In summary, the Nikon D780 SLR camera is still affordable. It is a camera worth buying. Whether it is an upgrade to full-frame or entry-level full-frame, it can be perfectly competent. In addition, the Nikon D780 SLR camera also incorporates some habits of the Z6 mirrorless camera. This can be regarded as a development trend of SLR.
